TEACHING ACTIVITY:

• I coordinate every year an optional Course in Plastic Surgery and a Burns Course for University students, the Rehabilitation Course for the Rehabilitation College and Hand and Microsurgical Courses for residents and specialists.
• I coordinate every year 4-6 postgraduate courses.
• In every year I am scientific advisor for 1-2 degree papers for University students.
• I took part, as president or member, in many PhD exam committees, and from 2003 I have the right to conduct PhD thesis.
• In present, I have 11 enlisted PhD students, the 12-th with the PhD thesis already completed, submitted and accepted by the Revue Board.
• I constantly tend to resident formation in plastic surgery (2-3 residents every year), and in other surgical fields.
• I am Expert Reviser for the Romanian National Committee of Research.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:

• I am chairman of the Regional Revue Committee Cluj for treatment in foreign countries since 2001.
• I am member in the Plastic Surgery – Reconstructive Microsurgery Committee for the Romanian Health Ministry.
• In the clinic coordinated by me are treated every year around 1400 patients, for which we are performing approximately 1700-1800 surgical interventions in a large field:
• Emergency trauma: replantation, revascularization, severe trauma of the limbs.
• Microsurgical interventions: brachial plexus, peripheral nerves, free flaps.
• Posttraumatic sequels.
• Congenital malformations.
• Chronic degenerative diseases.
• Soft tissues tumors.
• Aesthetic surgery: nose, breast, face and body sculpturing.
• I performed until now more than 400 microsurgical free transfers, with results similar to those in Romania and abroad, being one of the promoters of this surgical technique in our country. In this field I have some national first: the microsurgical free transfer of vascularised peroneum, the second and third digital block transfer, the use of the “flow-through flap” in replantations and revascularizations, the serratus anterior – rib flap, the contra lateral cubital nerve for the reanimation of certain brachial plexus palsies, free fibula flap, perforators flaps. I was also a promoter for other surgical techniques: antebrachial perforator flaps, brachio-acromial flap, the insertion of mammary prosthesis by abdominoplasty incision, the abdominal iterative hernia treatment with Colson flap, dorsal hand flaps without sacrificing the dorsal intermetacarpal arteries, the close approach for the Dupuytren disease using the needle, the extensor finger apparatus reconstruction using dermal band.
